As a result, I have the same confidence that the hymn writer expresses in longing for that day on which I’ll see him face-to-face. As a result, I join Felix in striving to please him in everything – but out of gratitude, not out of fear that I might somehow fall short of Heaven’s entrance-requirements. When I reach the gate of Heaven, God will see only the righteousness of Jesus in which I have been clothed all of my sins – past, present, and future – were placed on Jesus at the cross. Every sin that I have committed or ever will commit in this life was placed on Jesus. Therefore, when we stand before God, he will not count our sins and weigh them against our efforts to please him. In Second Corinthians 5:21, God‘s Word tells us that Jesus took all of our sins in his body on the cross and that God put all of Jesus‘ righteousness on us.
